A new version of the iOS Roaming Client is now available in the App Store and will begin rolling out to devices via Apple auto-updates today.
This release includes improvements to reliability, registration behavior, and MDM management.
β¨
What's New
- Improved MDM SupportUser name, hostname, and device tag changes in the configuration profile now sync to the Dashboard without requiring a Site Secret Key change
- Automatic Site Reassignment from MDMA Site Secret Key change in the configuration profile now re-associates the device to the new site automatically, enabling fleet migrations without reinstalls or policy gaps
- Stronger Admin PIN ProtectionProgressive delays are now applied between incorrect admin PIN attempts, making automated guessing impractical while keeping legitimate retries fast
- Refreshed BrandingApp icons, visuals, and UI elements have been updated to match current DNSFilter branding
πͺ²
Bug Fixes
- AirPrint and printer discoverySingle-label and DNS-SD queries now route to Local Resolvers when configured, so discovered printers appear reliably while the Roaming Client is active
- More reliable filtering after loginConfiguration now refreshes on a short interval instead of on every DNS query, fixing a brief window where a device could show blocked content right after login
- Diagnostic logging on by defaultNew installs now capture debug logs from the first run so Support can diagnose early issues; users can still disable it in the app

Mac Roaming Client
RC Release Channels
06/23 June 23 - macOS Roaming Client v2.4.2 Production
Version 2.4.2 of the macOS Roaming Client is now available on the
Production
channel. To install, download the latest production installer from the dashboard under Deployments β Roaming Clients
.β¨ What's New
Component Version Mismatch Detection
β The Roaming Client now detects when the menu bar app, system extension, and daemon are running mismatched versions β a scenario that can cause features to behave unexpectedly after upgrades or MDM-managed installs. When a mismatch is detected, users are alerted and can resolve it directly from the menu.πͺ² Stability & Connectivity Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the agent could fail to start correctly on macOS boot due to a stale local DNS configuration file from a previous session, causing it to get stuck and never recover without a manual restart
- Addressed an intermittent offline issue where some endpoints could go offline after waking from sleep or switching networks and require a reboot to recover
- Corrected a regression where Travel Wi-Fi mode would disappear from the menu after rebooting with Wi-Fi disabled, on machines with certain network extensions present
- Restored the allow_proxy_disable configuration setting, which was silently dropped when upgrading from 2.3.x to 2.4.x β the setting is now correctly carried forward
- The menu bar icon now correctly shows the offline state when the device has no network connection, without surfacing a spurious "Fix Installation Issues" warning that doesn't apply in that context

channel. This release addresses a DNS resolution issue affecting some endpoints on dual-stack (IPv4 + IPv6) networks. To install, download the latest production installer from the dashboard under Deployments β Roaming Clients.
π οΈ Improvements
Windows Server OS Detection
β When installed on a Windows Server OS, the agent now automatically falls back to Loopback filtering mode rather than attempting to load unsupported filtering modes. Windows Server OS is not an officially supported environment, but this change prevents unexpected behavior on Server deployments. Device Identification
β Devices are now identified more consistently in the dashboard, reducing missing identifiers after upgrades or reinstalls causing duplicate entriesInstaller & Upgrade Reliability
β Improved installer prerequisite validation and upgrade handling β failed upgrades no longer leave the endpoint without the Roaming Client installed.πͺ² Bug Fixes
Dual-Stack Stability
β Resolved issues affecting endpoints on dual-stack (IPv4 + IPv6) networks where the agent could interfere with other networking software, in some cases preventing local or public DNS queries from resolving correctly.DNS Connectivity in Transparent Proxy
β Resolved scenarios in Transparent Proxy mode that could cause local-name and search-suffix DNS lookups to fail or leave the endpoint without connectivity.Tray Icon Reliability
β Resolved a conflict that could cause the DNSFilter tray icon to be unreliable on shared/multi-user Windows machines and in environments with certain third-party applications.new

Windows Roaming Client
RC Release Channels
05/28 May 28 β Windows Roaming Client v3.3.8 Hotfix
We've released Windows Roaming Client v3.3.8 with an improvement to how the agent handles connectivity checks in the background.
π οΈ
Improvement
Optimized Background Connectivity Checks
β Reduced the frequency of internal connectivity checks performed by the Windows Roaming Client under steady-state conditions. Checks are now triggered by actual network events rather than on a fixed polling cycle, improving efficiency without impacting connectivity detection or DNS filtering behavior.πͺ²
Bug Fixes
Intermittent IPv6 Connectivity Recovery
β Resolved an issue where transient IPv6 route changes could leave the agent in a state where filtering was marked as not working, even though network connectivity had not actually changed. The agent now correctly recovers and resumes filtering when the underlying network state has not changed.new

What's New
IPv6 Support
β Filtering and protection now extend to IPv6 networks, keeping users on dual-stack and IPv6-only environments protected without falling back to unfiltered resolvers. Administrators can configure IPv4-only, IPv6-only, or automatic upstream resolution to fit their network.Modernized Configuration Architecture
β The agent now uses a more resilient configuration format, replacing the legacy daemon.conf
with configuration.json
. Configuration changes apply more reliably without agent restarts, recoverable errors no longer cascade into broader issues, and existing installations migrate cleanly on upgrade.πͺ²
Stability & Connectivity Fixes
- Resolved an issue where DNS queries could fail on certain cellular and mesh network setups, causing slow or failed page loads
- Addressed an edge case where connection reuse on DNS-over-TLS upstreams could cause the client to enter a fail-closed state on some devices
- Resolved an intermittent issue where internal domains could fail to resolve through local resolvers in certain upgrade scenarios
- Fixed an issue where the Roaming Client could go offline on certain ISP networks and require a manual restart to recover
This release brings IPv6 coverage and a stronger configuration foundation to the macOS Roaming Client, with meaningful stability improvements across network types and upgrade paths.
