Deactivate CyberSight

In Europe with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are not allowed to systematically track user behavior. So it would be great if:
a: The "Limit Display of Personal Data"-Option would also deactivate the CyberSight feature
or
b: there is a separate feature that deactivates the CyberSight option. As an MSP we would need to be able to block it for all our customers over a central dashboard.

Thanks for raising this concern, Tobias Linder — GDPR compliance is an important consideration.
CyberSight already includes controls that address this scenario. The feature is
not enabled by default for existing customers
, and administrators can disable it from the MSP dashboard or Organization level
, which allows MSPs to control availability for your environments. In addition, CyberSight
honors the “Limit Display of Personal Data” setting
. When that option is enabled, personally identifiable information such as usernames, hostnames, and IP addresses are redacted
, and user-based filtering is removed. This allows the module to function as an anonymized activity analytics view
without exposing personal data.Since these controls already provide the ability to manage or disable CyberSight to meet privacy requirements, we’ll close this request as resolved. If you run into a scenario where these controls don’t meet your needs, please let us know!

Hi Minetta Gould
Before opening that feature request I was actually searching for the option to switch it off and could not find it. So maybe you can tell me where in the MSP dashboard I can find that setting. Thank you!
And you write that "The feature is not enabled by default for existing customers". Then something went wrong with our enviroment because I see CyberSight in all the sidebars of our MSP customers.

Tobias Linder: Thanks for following up.
Seeing the
CyberSight tab in the sidebar is expected
, even if the feature isn’t enabled. We follow the same pattern for other optional capabilities (Roaming Clients, Relays, Filtering Schedules, Integrations, Data Export, etc.), so the tab remains visible even when the feature isn’t in use.Additionally, if CyberSight were enabled by accident for any of your Organizations, it would still
respect the “Limit Display of Personal Data” setting
, which redacts usernames, hostnames, and IPs.Hope this helps!
