Hello all! Just wanted to post a comment here to keep everyone up to date. I wanted to cover a couple of key points;
- We have a new TestFlight release. Version 1.0 (10). Here is a link to our deployment guide which covers a lot of important installation steps, as well as general setup. https://docs.dnsfilter.com/docs/ios-deployment-guide
- If you would like to participate, we’re now expanding the test. You may access the TestFlight release at this URL. https://testflight.apple.com/join/ylnnNLNT
At this time, we have two known outstanding major issues. Those issues being:
- Captive Portal: At the moment, there is incompatibility with certain captive portals. We are working on a fix.
- LAN Domains: For those with Active Directory and local servers, we want you to be able to access them instead of sending the requests to us. We’re working to add this support to our iOS beta!
Please contact support for any questions, concerns, or feedback regarding the iOS Agent Beta!

Ken do you know if the are plans to TLS support on the ios app? All of my internal networks are already using that with dnsfilter, I would love to do the same on my ios devices using this app. I know the TLS knowledgebase says it is supported in the windows agent... but it does not mentions the IOS agent. I am assuming that is because it is still under beta
Mike Schroll
Justin: The initial release of iOS will not include TLS Support — We do support TLS in our mac and windows agents; and we will be adding it to iOS in the near future.
Mike Schroll
Justin: Hi Justin -- we did actually release DNS over TLS support into the iOS app -- Please contact support for more details.

Hi Everyone - I apologize for the delay, but after announcing we were ready for beta we realized that not everyone will know how to supervise an iOS device and install the app on their own.
As such, please find complete end-to-end instructions on how to install the beta app at https://docs.dnsfilter.com/docs/ios-deployment-guide

Great news, everyone - our iOS roaming client is finished with internal alpha testing and now finally available for public beta!
If you’re interested in testing, please e-mail support - at - dnsfilter.com to express your interest and we will get you access.
Please note that iOS only supports this program on supervised devices. If the beta goes well, our typical goal/release cycle would indicate that we’d be comfortable to release to production in <4 weeks.
Currently, the only known issue is a potential incompatibility with certain captive portals. We're working on a fix, but outside assistance with testing in various captive portal scenarios would certainly help to speed up the process!
Daniel
Hi Ken, so can you elaborate on the "Supervised Devices" part of your statement? Are you saying that we will need to use a full MDM software and manage/supervise the device in order to install DNSFilter on iOS devices?
Ken Carnesi
Daniel: Sure - I am not saying you need to have full MDM - the device just needs to be in supervised mode. This can be done with or without an MDM and is pretty standard requirement for this type of app, as Apple doesn't allow you do run this type of app on an unsupervised device. Cisco Umbrella users go through the same exact thing.
We will put together good documentation very early next week, but if you want to read more in general about supervised devices you can do so at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202837

How are things coming with this feature ?
Daniel
Yes, we are looking forward to it as well! We love DNSFilter and can't wait to use it on our iOS devices.
Franz
Looking forward to it!

Hey guys - absolutely. The update - and I am happy to be transparent about this, is that we've been testing extensively. At this point, we have it running on several staff devices and have run into some UDP error messages. We are figuring it out now and hope to have the issue resolved this week. If it does indeed get solved this week then I suspect we would release for testing to this threat about one week after that.
When it's working, it's worked very well. There are just a few issues to work out. FWIW, I suspect MacOS will also be good to go around the same time. It's on a similar test cycle/situation at the moment.
Justin
I am still very interested in this feature as well. Any updates Ken?
