📢 Product Update: Enhanced Visibility into License Usage
Release Date:
July 22, 2025
Applies to:
Self-Service Customers and Distributor Accounts (e.g., Pax8, N-Able)
✨ What’s New?
We’ve introduced updates to the
Billing
and
Subscription Management
pages in your DNSFilter portal to give you
clearer insight into your license usage
. These enhancements are designed to help you understand where your usage stands, and make informed decisions about your account
without impacting your current billing
.
These changes affect two specific user groups:
🧾 Self-Service Billing Page Updates
Roaming Clients (RCs) Actual
Displays the actual number of Roaming Clients deployed in your environment.
Network Devices Actual
Estimates how many non-RC devices are using DNSFilter, calculated based on DNS activity
(1 license per
10,000 DNS queries per day
)
Recommended Licenses
A simple total showing how many licenses you should have based on your RC and network traffic.
Note:
These numbers are
informational only
. You will not be charged differently at this time, and no action is required.
🤝 Distributor Subscription Page Updates
For customers who purchase DNSFilter through distributors like Pax8 or N-Able, the Subscription page now includes:
  • Roaming Clients Actual
  • Network Devices Actual
  • Recommended Licenses
You can now see your actual deployment across sub-orgs and compare it to your licensed count, helping ensure accurate provisioning and better forecasting.
🎯 Why This Matters
These updates:
  • 🧭 Help you monitor under- or over-utilization of your DNSFilter licenses
  • 🔄 Prepare you for future improvements, including easier license adjustments
  • 💼 Support your billing accuracy while giving you time to assess and adapt
💡
These metrics are for visibility only. We are not enforcing license counts based on this data currently.

  • 🛠 Tooltips and interface improvements for better clarity
